vivo’s letters are a rough price ladder with a job attached: the X series is for cameras and flagship chips, V is for portraits and slim looks, T is for battery and value, and Y is for basics. Today’s starting prices run from ₹15,999 for the vivo Y05 to ₹2,19,999 for the vivo X Fold6.

That is the short version. The long one matters, because some letters break the pattern, and the prices on vivo’s brand page show where.

Series What it is for Starting prices today Example
X Cameras and top chips ₹83,999 to ₹2,19,999 vivo X300, X300 Pro, X Fold6
V Portraits, slim looks, big batteries ₹44,999 to ₹66,999 vivo V70 FE, V70, V80
T Battery and value ₹27,999 to ₹36,999 vivo T5x 5G, T5 5G, T5 Pro 5G
Y Basics and a tight budget ₹15,999 to ₹31,999 vivo Y05, Y31 5G, Y400 5G
S Battery-led spin-off, newer ₹38,999 and up vivo S2 FE
Starting prices are today’s prices from The Synap’s phone pages, for the cheapest version, checked on 31 October 2026.

What do vivo’s X, V, T and Y series mean?

Each letter is a product line with its own priority. X is the flagship line, V is the camera-and-design mid-range, T is the performance-and-battery line, and Y is the entry level. The numbers after the letter are the generation, so a V80 is newer than a V70.

Read the letter first and the number second. A Y400 is not a better phone than a V70 just because 400 is a bigger number: it costs less than half as much.

What do you get from the X series?

The X series is where vivo puts its best cameras and chips. The vivo X300 costs ₹83,999 and carries a 200MP main camera and a Dimensity 9500. The vivo X300 Pro is ₹1,19,999 for a 200MP telephoto, and the vivo X300 Ultra is ₹1,59,999 with two 200MP cameras.

All three promise five Android updates, which is the best vivo offers. The X Fold6 is the odd one out: at ₹2,19,999 it is vivo’s most expensive phone, and vivo has not published how many Android updates it will get.

Watch the FE tag here. On the V series, FE means cheaper: the vivo V70 FE is the entry point at ₹44,999. On the X series it does not. The vivo X300 FE costs ₹89,999 on its page, ₹6,000 more than the X300, because it swaps the Dimensity chip for a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and adds a bigger 6,500 mAh battery.

Who is the V series for?

The V series is for people who care how a phone looks and shoots portraits, and want it slim. The newest, the vivo V80, is ₹62,999 for 8GB + 128GB, with a 7,200 mAh battery, a 144Hz screen and a 50MP telephoto. The older vivo V70 is ₹59,999 and has the same chip, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4.

The V80 is the better buy of the two for ₹3,000 more, mostly for its battery and Android 17. Its 128GB base storage is thin for 4K video, so the ₹69,999 version with 256GB is the one to look at.

Is the T series better value than the V series?

For most buyers, yes. The T series gives up the portrait-first camera tuning and the slim body, and spends the money on battery and screen instead. The vivo T5 5G is ₹34,999 and has a 144Hz screen, a 7,050 mAh battery and three promised Android updates.

Go up one step and the vivo T5 Pro 5G is ₹36,999 with a 9,020 mAh battery and 90W charging. Its second rear camera is only a 2MP depth sensor, though, and vivo’s India pages do not say how many Android updates it gets. Go down and the vivo T5x 5G is ₹27,999 with a 7,200 mAh battery but an LCD screen.

If you want to compare the T series with other brands at this price, the best phones under ₹50,000 is the next stop.

What does the Y series give up?

The Y series is built to a price, and the cuts are specific. The vivo Y05 at ₹15,999 has no 5G, an 8MP rear camera and 15W charging for its 6,500 mAh battery. The vivo Y31 5G at ₹19,999 adds 5G and IP68 and IP69 ratings, but runs Android 15 on an HD+ LCD screen.

The vivo Y400 5G at ₹31,999 has the best Y series screen, a 6.67-inch AMOLED, and 90W charging. Its chip is the entry-level Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, the same as the ₹19,999 Y31, so you are paying for the display and the charger, not for speed.

Where does the S series fit?

S is the letter on vivo’s battery-led phones. The vivo S2 FE is ₹38,999 and carries a 10,000 mAh battery, the biggest vivo sells in India, but charging stops at 44W. At that price the T5 Pro 5G offers 9,020 mAh with 90W charging, so the S2 FE only makes sense if the bigger battery is the whole point.

Which vivo series should you pick?

Pick by what you will use every day, not by the letter. Here is how the five phones that define each series compare.

Phone Today’s price Battery and charging Software promise
vivo X300 Pro ₹1,19,999 6,510 mAh, 90W Five Android updates
vivo V80 ₹62,999 7,200 mAh, 90W Android 17, six years of security updates
vivo T5 5G ₹34,999 7,050 mAh, 44W Three Android updates
vivo Y400 5G ₹31,999 6,000 mAh, 90W Ships on Android 15
vivo Y05 ₹15,999 6,500 mAh, 15W Ships on Android 16
Battery sizes and charging speeds are vivo’s own figures; prices and update promises are from The Synap’s phone pages, checked on 31 October 2026.

The Y400 5G charges faster than the T5 5G, which is the kind of surprise the letters hide. If you want the full ranking at each budget, our guide to which vivo phone to buy in India names a pick. For the software side of the table, see how many years of updates your phone gets.

Quick answers

Is vivo V better than vivo T?

Neither is better overall. The V series is tuned for portraits and slim looks and costs ₹44,999 or more. The T series spends its money on battery and screen, from ₹27,999. For most people on a normal budget, the T series is the better value.

Is the vivo Y series any good?

It is fine for calls, video and light apps. The cheapest, the vivo Y05, is a 4G phone with an 8MP camera. Skip the Y series if you want a quick chip: the Y400 5G uses an entry-level Snapdragon 4 Gen 2.

Which vivo series has the best camera?

The X series. The vivo X300 Ultra has two 200MP cameras and costs ₹1,59,999. No independent camera test is cited here, so treat that as vivo’s hardware spec rather than a verdict on photo quality.
