Our take

Is it any good?

The X300 Ultra is vivo's camera flagship, built for people who take more photos than they send messages. It costs ₹1,59,999 and comes in one version, 16GB + 512GB, so there is no cheaper way in.

What sets it apart is the back. The main camera and the telephoto are both 200MP with stabilisation, joined by a 50MP ultrawide, and video goes up to 4K at 120fps. Around that sit a 6.82-inch 144Hz screen, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a 6,600 mAh battery with 100W wired and 40W wireless charging, IP68 and IP69 ratings and a promise of five Android updates.

The catch is that the X300 FE covers most of the everyday ground for ₹70,000 less: the same five-update promise, a 50MP telephoto, wireless charging and a 191g body. The Ultra's extra money buys camera hardware and 41g of extra weight, at 232g. If you will not use that telephoto every week, it is a lot to carry around.
