Is it any good?
The Phone (4a) Pro is the Phone (4a) with the rough edges filed off. It starts at ₹49,999 for 8GB + 128GB and is for people who like the 4a's periscope camera but not the gaps in its spec sheet.
Against the ₹42,999 Phone (4a) with the same memory, the extra ₹7,000 buys NFC for tap-to-pay, which the cheaper phone lacks in India, plus a 144Hz screen instead of 120Hz, 5,000 nits of peak brightness instead of 4,500, and a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. The body is 7.9 mm thick against 8.5 mm, and it is rated IP65 rather than IP64. The cameras are unchanged: a 50MP main and a 50MP periscope, both stabilised, with 3.5x optical zoom.
The catch is the top of the range. The 12GB + 256GB model costs ₹59,999, and from there the ₹79,999 Phone (3) is ₹20,000 away with wireless charging, a 50MP ultrawide and IP68. The 8GB + 256GB model at ₹52,999 is the sensible place to stop.
