Buying the iPhone 18 Pro in Dubai saves about ₹23,700 on the 256GB version after Indian customs duty, and buying it in the US saves about ₹33,800 with an 8% sales tax, but only if the lower duty rate applies and you accept shaky warranty cover. For most buyers, the Indian price of ₹1,64,900 is the safer buy. Prices below were checked on 12 October 2026.
How much cheaper is the iPhone 18 Pro in Dubai or the US?
On the sticker, the UAE is about ₹30,000 cheaper than India on the 256GB version, and the US is about ₹48,600 cheaper before sales tax. The gap grows with storage. Apple’s own stores in all three countries show it.
| Version | India (Apple’s India store) | UAE (Apple’s UAE store) | UAE in rupees | US (Apple’s US store) | US in rupees, before sales tax |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 256GB | ₹1,64,900 | AED 5,099 | ₹1,34,628 | $1,199 | ₹1,16,260 |
| 512GB | ₹1,89,900 | AED 5,949 | ₹1,57,070 | $1,399 | ₹1,35,653 |
| 1TB | ₹2,39,900 | AED 7,649 | ₹2,01,955 | $1,799 | ₹1,74,439 |
| 2TB | ₹3,14,900 | AED 10,199 | ₹2,69,282 | $2,399 | ₹2,32,617 |
The India figures match the version ladder on The Synap’s iPhone 18 Pro page, which shows today’s price for each version. That page shows doubling the storage from 256GB to 512GB costs ₹25,000 in India. In Dubai the same step is AED 850 (about ₹22,400) and in the US it is $200 (about ₹19,400).
What does Indian customs charge on an iPhone you carry home?
Since 2 February 2026, Indian residents can bring home ₹75,000 of personal goods duty-free, up from ₹50,000. Gulf News and Storyboard18 report that anything above that attracts 10% basic duty plus a 10% surcharge on that duty. A phone costing ₹1.3 lakh or more will always go over.
That is where the headline saving shrinks. Take the 256GB iPhone 18 Pro at AED 5,099, or ₹1,34,628. The amount above ₹75,000 is ₹59,628, and duty on it is about ₹6,559. Your landed cost is ₹1,41,187, a saving of ₹23,713, not ₹30,272.
| Version | India price | UAE price plus duty | Saving from UAE | US price plus 8% tax and duty | Saving from US |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 256GB | ₹1,64,900 | ₹1,41,187 | ₹23,713 | ₹1,31,123 | ₹33,777 |
| 512GB | ₹1,89,900 | ₹1,66,098 | ₹23,802 | ₹1,54,371 | ₹35,529 |
| 1TB | ₹2,39,900 | ₹2,15,920 | ₹23,980 | ₹2,00,867 | ₹39,033 |
| 2TB | ₹3,14,900 | ₹2,90,653 | ₹24,247 | ₹2,70,612 | ₹44,288 |
Two caveats matter. The allowance covers everything in your bag, so a watch or a perfume uses it up first. And not every source agrees on the rate: some travel sites quote 35% to 38.5% on the excess. At 38.5% the Dubai saving on the 256GB falls to about ₹7,300. Check the current rate with Indian customs before you fly.
Is a 512GB iPhone 18 Pro in Dubai cheaper than a 256GB one in India?
Before duty, yes: the 512GB costs ₹1,57,070 in Dubai against ₹1,64,900 for the 256GB in India. After duty, no. The Dubai 512GB lands at ₹1,66,098, which is ₹1,198 more than the India 256GB. Double the storage for the same money only holds before duty, and duty is owed on it.
Which version is the best value abroad?
The 256GB, and the US is the better source if you can get there: it saves ₹33,777 against India after duty and tax. The 2TB looks like the biggest saving at ₹44,288, but it means carrying a phone worth about ₹2.7 lakh through customs, and few people fill even 256GB. Will Apple India repair an iPhone bought in Dubai or the US?
Possibly, but you cannot count on it. Apple’s warranty terms say it may limit hardware service to the country where the phone was sold, and owners on Apple’s support forums report mixed experiences in India. We could not find a current Apple India statement, so ask Apple India support before you buy abroad.
Two other checks. The iPhone 18 Pro sold in India takes a nano-SIM and an eSIM, but the UAE and US models are eSIM only, with no SIM tray at all, according to Apple’s spec pages for each country. So a phone bought abroad needs your carrier’s eSIM; every big Indian carrier offers one, and it takes a few minutes to set up. And in the US, buy the unlocked version, not a carrier-tied one: Apple’s US store sells it under “Connect on your own later”.
So should you buy the iPhone 18 Pro abroad?
Only if you are already flying out. A dedicated trip for one phone spends most of the saving on tickets and a visa. If you live in the UAE or travel often, the US 256GB is the sharpest deal. Otherwise buy in India: Apple’s India store gives you local warranty and no customs gamble. Quick answers
Is the iPhone 18 Pro cheaper in Dubai than in India?
Yes. Apple’s UAE store lists AED 5,099 for the 256GB, about ₹1,34,628, against ₹1,64,900 in India. After Indian customs duty the saving is about ₹23,700, before travel costs.
How much can I bring into India without paying duty?
₹75,000 of personal goods per adult resident traveller since 2 February 2026, covering everything you carry. An iPhone 18 Pro costs more than that on its own, so duty applies to the rest.
Does an iPhone bought abroad work in India?
Yes, if it is unlocked, but the UAE and US models are eSIM only, so you will need your carrier’s eSIM instead of a SIM card. Warranty is the weak spot, because Apple may limit service to the country of sale.
