Samsung has confirmed One UI 9 for only a handful of phones in India so far: the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra, plus the new foldables that shipped with it. Everything else, from the Galaxy S25 to the Galaxy A57 5G, has no official date. Here is what is known on 19 October 2026, and what it means if you own or plan to buy a Galaxy.

Which Samsung phones have One UI 9 in India right now?

Samsung’s India newsroom post, dated 25 September, says the rollout starts with the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra. It follows the debut of One UI 9 on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8. For every other phone, Samsung says only that the update is “expected to gradually roll out to other Galaxy devices”.

That is the whole official list. The post names no other models and gives no dates, so any table of exact dates for your phone is a guess, however confident it looks.

What about the Galaxy S25, Galaxy A56 and other older phones?

Nothing official yet. Beebom reported on 7 October that the stable update was reaching India for the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7, but only for owners enrolled in Samsung’s beta programme. Posts by owners on Samsung’s community forum also claim it has reached some Galaxy S25 and S24 phones in India. Samsung has not confirmed those, so treat them as early reports, not a schedule.

The table below puts the phones people ask about next to the software promise on our own pages. All of them are inside their promised update window, so One UI 9 is a question of when, not whether.

Phone Today’s price Software on its page OS updates promised One UI 9 in India
Galaxy Z Fold8 ₹1,79,999 One UI 9, Android 17 7 Ships with it (Samsung)
Galaxy Z Flip8 ₹1,24,999 One UI 9, Android 17 7 Ships with it (Samsung)
Galaxy S26 ₹1,02,999 One UI 8.5 7 Rolling out (Samsung)
Galaxy S25 ₹74,999 One UI 7 7 No date from Samsung
Galaxy S25 FE ₹59,999 One UI 8 7 No date from Samsung
Galaxy A57 5G ₹62,999 One UI 8.5, Android 16 6 No date from Samsung
Galaxy A56 5G ₹44,999 One UI 7 6 No date from Samsung

Which version does a new Galaxy come with?

If you are buying today and want One UI 9 from the first boot, only the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 qualify. The Galaxy S26 at ₹1,02,999 shipped with One UI 8.5 and needs the update, which one report puts at over 4GB in India (Sammyfans). Do the first update on home Wi-Fi, not mobile data.

Older stock is the bigger catch. The Galaxy S25 at ₹74,999 shipped with One UI 7, so a unit that sat in a shop may need several updates before it reaches the current version. The Galaxy S25 FE and Galaxy A56 5G page entries show the same pattern, One UI 8 and One UI 7 at launch. For how long each brand keeps pushing updates, see our guide to how many years of updates your phone gets.

What does One UI 9 actually add?

Samsung’s own list is mostly Galaxy AI and housekeeping, not a redesign. The main additions it names:

  • My FanCam: tracks a chosen person in a recorded video and keeps them centred, reframing as they move.
  • Editable Now Brief cards: you choose which health, weather and video cards appear in your daily summary.
  • Warranty and Care in Settings: warranty check, self-diagnostics, repair estimates and Samsung Care+ in one place.
  • Now Nudge: suggestions inside chats, such as saving a shared location.
  • Security Brief, Privacy Alerts and wider Scam Detection: warnings about malware, unknown apps and background permission use, using on-device AI.
  • Interpreter and Document Scan upgrades: a thread view for translations, and better scans of curved or folded pages.

Some features carry device or region conditions in Samsung’s footnotes, so a missing option on your phone does not mean the update failed.

How do I check for the update, and should I wait?

Open Settings, then Software update, and look for the new version. Back up your photos and chats first and keep the phone well charged. If it is not offered yet, that is normal: Samsung rolls out in stages by model and country, and your phone may not be next.

Waiting costs little on the phones above: your current version keeps working while the update is staged. Quick answers

Will my Galaxy A or M phone get One UI 9 in India?

Probably, if it is still inside Samsung’s promised update window, but Samsung has named no A or M model and no date. Check your model’s promise on its page, and use Settings, then Software update, for the real answer.

Is the One UI 9 update free?

Yes, Samsung’s software updates cost nothing. The file is large, though, so download it on Wi-Fi rather than mobile data.

Does One UI 9 mean a new Android version?

Yes. Our pages list the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 as running One UI 9 on Android 17, so the update brings an Android version jump as well as Samsung’s own features.
