Our take

Is it any good?

The Pad 5 is OPPO’s big-screen tablet for study, notes and films, and the one most households should look at first. It costs ₹29,999 for 8GB + 128GB with Wi-Fi and ₹34,999 for 8GB + 256GB with 5G, so mobile data and double the storage cost ₹5,000 more.

The money buys a 12.1-inch 2.8K screen in a tall 7:5 shape that refreshes at 120Hz, which suits reading and side-by-side notes better than a wide, film-first panel. Four speakers, MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300-Ultra and a 10,050 mAh battery with 33W charging round it out, and it works with the OPPO Pencil 2R.

The catch is speed and heft. The Dimensity 7300-Ultra is a mid-range chip, fine for streaming, classes and video calls rather than heavy editing, and at 597 g the Pad 5 weighs more than twice the 282 g Pad Mini. The Pencil costs extra, and OPPO sells no keyboard for it.
