Galaxy S26 Exynos or Snapdragon in India: does it matter?
India's Galaxy S26 and S26+ run Samsung's Exynos 2600; only the ₹1,54,999 Galaxy S26 Ultra gets a Snapdragon. What tests show, and when the chip matters.

India’s Samsung Galaxy S26 and Samsung Galaxy S26+ run Samsung’s own Exynos 2600 chip, and only the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra gets a Snapdragon. For most buyers that matters less than the price gap: the Ultra costs ₹52,000 more than the Galaxy S26, and the chip is only part of what that buys.
Here is which phone has which chip, what independent tests found, and when it is worth caring. Prices below were checked on 27 October 2026.
Which Galaxy S26 has which chip in India?
The Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ have the Exynos 2600, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra has the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, according to our Galaxy S26 page and our Galaxy S26 Ultra page. Android Authority reports the Ultra uses the Snapdragon in every market.
| Phone | Chip | Starting price in India |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S26 | Exynos 2600 | ₹1,02,999 (12GB + 256GB) |
| Galaxy S26+ | Exynos 2600 | ₹1,34,999 (12GB + 256GB) |
| Galaxy S26 Ultra | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy | ₹1,54,999 (12GB + 256GB) |
Step up from the Galaxy S26 to the Galaxy S26+ and the chip does not change: both have the Exynos 2600, 12GB of RAM and the same 50MP main camera. The extra ₹32,000 buys a bigger Quad HD+ screen and a 4,900 mAh battery. The Galaxy S26 against the Galaxy S26 Ultra is where the chip changes.

Why does the Galaxy S26 Ultra get a different chip?
Samsung has not given a reason. Android Authority’s Robert Triggs suggests Samsung may be cautious because of how many Exynos chips its new 2nm factory process can produce, but he presents that as speculation, not a Samsung statement. The Ultra is also the most expensive phone, so buyers expect the fastest chip available.
Android Authority describes the split as in line with Samsung’s earlier releases, but not as something Samsung has confirmed.
| Spec | Exynos 2600 | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 |
|---|---|---|
| Made on | Samsung 2nm | TSMC 3nm |
| Fastest CPU core | One core at 3.8GHz | Two prime cores (our page: up to 4.74GHz) |
| Graphics | Xclipse 960 | Adreno 840 |
| 5G modem | Separate chip | Built into the chip |
Is the Exynos 2600 slower than the Snapdragon?
In single-core speed, yes, by 16% in Android Authority’s test, and in graphics by about 25% in raw output. In multi-core, the work that matters when many apps run at once, the two were about 1% apart. That test is from a 3 April 2026 review, and Samsung has not published its own comparison.
| Test | Result | Who measured it |
|---|---|---|
| Geekbench 6, single-core | Snapdragon 16% faster | Android Authority |
| Geekbench 6, multi-core | About 1% apart, within margin of error | Android Authority |
| 3DMark Wild Life Extreme | Snapdragon 25% higher | Android Authority |
| Wild Life Extreme stress test, stability | Exynos 74.9%, Snapdragon 53.8% | Android Authority |
| Battery life | No result published | Not tested in that review |
The surprise is sustained gaming: in the 3DMark stress test the Exynos held 74.9% of its peak speed against the Snapdragon’s 53.8%. Android Authority also noted the Exynos ran hotter after one run, though it said the Galaxy S26 Ultra has better cooling. No battery test was published, and the review cites early reports that the Exynos is less efficient without confirming them. Treat battery as unknown.
Does the chip change anything you will notice?
For calls, social apps, video and everyday camera use, almost certainly not. A 16% gap in one benchmark does not make a phone feel 16% slower, and both chips are far faster than most apps need. Where it could show is long gaming sessions and heavy editing, and even there the sustained-speed result favoured the Exynos.
The better reasons to pick between these phones are elsewhere. The Galaxy S26 has a 4,300 mAh battery with 25W charging, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra has 5,000 mAh with 60W charging, both Samsung’s figures. All three phones carry Samsung’s promise of seven OS updates, so One UI 9 plans do not depend on the chip.
Which Galaxy S26 should you buy for the chip?
If you want the Snapdragon, the Galaxy S26 Ultra at ₹1,54,999 is the only way in, and it is ₹20,000 more than the Galaxy S26+. Skip the Galaxy S26+ if you are buying for performance: it has the same Exynos 2600 as the ₹1,02,999 Galaxy S26.
