Our take

Is it any good?

The A100C New is itel's entry ticket to a smartphone, sold through itel's retail stores at ₹8,499 for 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It is aimed at someone moving up from a keypad phone who wants a big screen and a big battery.

On paper it does the basics: a 6.56-inch HD+ screen at 90Hz, a Unisoc T7100, a 5,000 mAh battery with USB-C charging, an 8MP main camera and a DTS-tuned speaker. It adds an IPX4 rating against splashes and itel's MIL-STD-810H toughness claim, and comes in Silk Green, Pure Black and Titanium Gold.

The catch is its own sibling. The A100 shares the chip, screen, battery and cameras, adds 1GB more RAM and an infrared blaster, and costs ₹600 less at ₹7,899. 2GB of RAM is the least itel offers right now, so the A100 is the smarter buy.
