Our take

Is it any good?

The Xiaomi Pad 8 is Xiaomi’s flagship tablet in India, for people who want a fast, sharp tablet for work, study and films. It costs ₹35,999 for 8GB + 128GB, ₹43,999 for 12GB + 256GB and ₹45,999 for the matte Nano Texture version, all Wi-Fi only.

The money buys Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, the fastest chip in Xiaomi’s Indian tablet range, and an 11.2-inch 3.2K screen in a 3:2 shape that refreshes at up to 144Hz. The 9,200 mAh battery charges at 45W, with a 67W charger in the box, and the body is 5.75 mm thin at 485 g.

The catch is that there is no SIM slot at all, and the Xiaomi Focus Pen and Focus Keyboard cost extra. If you need mobile data, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro has a 5G version from ₹29,999, with a bigger 12.1-inch screen and a 12,000 mAh battery, though a slower chip.
