Our take

Is it any good?

The Pad Mini is OPPO’s small tablet, and India gets it as the Matte Display Edition, with an anti-glare finish on the screen. It is for people who read, sketch and watch on the move and want something that slips into a handbag rather than a backpack. There is one version, 8GB + 256GB with Wi-Fi, in Lavender Purple, at ₹94,999.

On paper it is the most powerful tablet OPPO sells in India. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 sits behind an 8.8-inch 2.5K AMOLED screen that refreshes at up to 144Hz, the body is 5.46 mm thin and weighs 282 g, and the 8,000 mAh battery charges at 67W, about twice the 33W of the Pad 5 and Pad SE. It works with the OPPO Pencil 3 Pro.

The catch is everything small brings with it. There is no SIM version, so on the go it borrows data from your phone, and an 8.8-inch screen is cramped for split-screen work next to the 12.1-inch Pad 5. The Pencil costs extra, OPPO makes no keyboard for it, and the price is the real hurdle: ₹65,000 more than the Pad 5 with its bigger screen.
