OnePlus 16 is out in China: is it coming to India?
The OnePlus 16 launched in China with a 9,000 mAh battery and a 200MP camera. OnePlus has not confirmed India yet, so here is what to buy meanwhile.

The OnePlus 16 is official, but only in China: OnePlus launched it there on 12 October and has said nothing about India yet. So the newest OnePlus flagship you can actually buy here is still the OnePlus 15, at today’s price of ₹84,999 for 12GB + 256GB.
That matters, because on paper the OnePlus 16 is a big step, above all on battery. Here is what OnePlus put in it, what is still unknown for India, and whether it is worth waiting for.

What did OnePlus launch in China?
A phone built around speed and stamina. The OnePlus 16 runs Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and carries a 9,000 mAh battery, made of two 4,500 mAh cells, with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. The 6.78-inch screen runs at up to 165Hz, and up to 185Hz in some games.
The cameras change shape too. The main camera is now 200MP, next to a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and the selfie camera jumps to 50MP. It keeps the full set of water ratings, IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K, and OnePlus China sells four versions, from 12GB + 256GB to 16GB + 1TB.
| OnePlus 16 (China) | OnePlus 15 (India) | |
|---|---|---|
| Chip | Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 |
| Battery | 9,000 mAh | 7,300 mAh |
| Wired charging | 100W | 120W |
| Wireless charging | 50W | 50W |
| Screen | 6.78-inch, up to 165Hz (185Hz in some games) | 6.78-inch, 165Hz |
| Main camera | 200MP | 50MP |
| Telephoto | 50MP, 3x optical zoom | 50MP periscope, 3.5x optical zoom |
| Selfie camera | 50MP | 32MP |
| Water rating | IP66, IP68, IP69, IP69K | IP66, IP68, IP69, IP69K |
| India price | Not announced | From ₹84,999 |
Two trade-offs stand out. Wired charging drops from 120W on the OnePlus 15 to 100W, though a battery 1,700 mAh bigger is the part most people will notice. And the telephoto goes from 3.5x to 3x optical zoom, while the main camera’s resolution goes up.
Is the OnePlus 16 coming to India?
OnePlus has not confirmed it. There is no India date, no India price and no word on which versions would come here. Reports in the Indian tech press disagree with each other, and none of them comes from OnePlus, so treat any date you see as a guess for now.
What is on record: the OnePlus 15 reached India on 13 November 2025. Phones with the same name can also change between countries, so an India model may not match the China one figure for figure. The Synap will add the OnePlus 16 to its catalogue the day OnePlus India confirms it.

Should you wait, or buy the OnePlus 15?
If you need a phone this festive season, buy now. The OnePlus 15 is the newest OnePlus flagship sold in India, and a phone that has not been announced cannot be bought at any price. The step to 16GB + 512GB costs ₹8,000 more, at ₹92,999, and it is the version to pick if you keep phones for years.
If your current phone is fine and battery is your biggest complaint, waiting makes sense: 9,000 mAh against the OnePlus 15’s 7,300 mAh is, on paper, the single biggest upgrade here. Just don’t wait on a promise OnePlus has not made.
On a tighter budget, the OnePlus 15R costs ₹56,999 today, ₹28,000 less than the OnePlus 15, with a 7,400 mAh battery of its own. See how the OnePlus 15 and 15R compare before you decide, or browse the best flagship phones if you are open to other brands.
